Re: MLS & Toronto FC Cannot Survive

Is the bloom coming off the Toronto Soccer Club? http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Soccer/TorontoFC/2010/09/28/15513006.html There can't be any more than 15k at today's Toronto FC game and while MLSE reported that a less than capacity crowd of 20k were on hand for the home opener last week, there appeared ...

Re: Draft

There are two or three promising kickers available. We seemed to go through a period where there was a shortage of good Canadian kickers and now we seem to have a surplus including a number of younger ones.

Re: 2011 CFL Schedule

Where it is good that we are getting the schedule in Febuary instead of May. I think the CFL needs to start putting the schedule together a year in advance. Possibly around Labour Day or right after Grey Cup. Then teams could lock up those important dates such as Thanksgiving, Labour Day, and any o...

Stephen Brunt said in a recent radio interview that Rogers only gave the Argos 10 potential dates for their 9 home games.

Re: What Has Happened To This Place?

This thread proves that there are at least a few of us who still care about this forum. There may have been some problems here which have been discussed in-depth already but I still do appreciate the generally friendlier and more polite tone on here. At another league-wide site that I visit, most th...

Re: Ricky Ray back to lead the Empire.

Enjoy him for the next two years, then he'll be an Ottawa QB!! That is the plan! To keep him around so they dont have to protect him! He is now making $400 000 - year. Now ,what will the argos do? What did Mcpherson do? McPherson is still under contract to the Als, Ping. I believe that he is...

Re: CFL is minor leagues - lets end this foolishness

But when we had Ottawa a few years ago, the play in the league took a noticable dip. It was because a lot of the Canadian playing shouldn't have been. The only reason why they had a roster spot was because of their birth certificate. Some of the most exciting football I have seen played in the CFL ...

Re: "Expansion" draft for the Ottawa Rough Riders*

This city has what 1 winning team since 1979. Worse than that. They've only had two break-even seasons since 1979, all the rest are losing seasons. No winning seasons. Since 1980 to 1996 it's 85 wins and 208 losses (not counting losing in the semi-finals). And that's just the Rough Rider years. I w...

Re: Fantuz Signs with Chicago

Steve Simmons wrote today that Fantuz received little, if any, signing bonus which is usually an indication as to just how serious of an opportunity that one will get in the NFL. Also, with a lockout seeming almost inevitable, Fantuz may get even less of a chance to show his stuff in Chicago. This i...

Re: Ford wants to KILL the Argo's

Since the Mayor's NFL remarks have gone over like a lead Goodyear Blimp, I have not heard a single thing about this in the media. Nobody can even be bothered to look into the alleged 4 groups that were all supposed to be horny for the NFL in Toronto. I doubt we'll hear anything more from His Blimpn...

Re: "Expansion" draft for the Ottawa Rough Riders*

I like this draft format and look forward to seeing a competitive Ottawa team on the field in 2013. It will be especially interesting to see which QBs are drafted. Hopefully they can get the work started on the stadium within the next few months.
