There is a better chance that Bishop will be getting a call from the Bombers again this year. :tease:

Re: Why the Green 'riders Lost?

As opposed to the pressure in Toronto to simply not suck... I'm sure most teams would gladly take Sask's pressure. I am sure that most teams would gladly take Saskatchewan's pressure but let's see how they respond. Each year that they don't win the Grey Cup from here will make last year's heartbrea...

Re: Why the Green 'riders Lost?

If the Riders don't win the Grey Cup this year then last year's loss will sting that much more for that much longer. The pressure may be on Saskatchewan more than anyone this year to win the Grey Cup and it will be interesting to see how they fare under the pressure of such great expectations.

Re: Football

From my memory and from what that article says, Portland was never actually awarded a franchise though. The first two franchises awarded were those in Sacramento and Larry Benson's San Antonio Texans who never made it onto the field (of course, the Gold Miners later became the Texans). That's my un...

Portland expansion predated Sacramento and San Antonio. Portland gains approval for CFL expansion team 27 September 1991 The Globe and Mail Associated Press PORTLAND, Ore. Portland is at the top of the list of likely Canadian Football League expansion cities, a CFL team owner says. The league's boa...

Re: Football

Portland was supposed to come in with Sacramento but the deal fell through. No, San Antonio was supposed to be the team that came in with Sacramento in '93. It was to be owned by the brother of that Benson fellow who owns the Saints but it fell through at the last minute for some reason. Portland h...

Re: Football

For a few years after the U.S. expansion days, I just wanted to wipe the images of that era completely out of my memory. Now that 15 years have elapsed and ESPN Classic Canada shows games from that era including games between two American-based teams that we never saw up here at that time, I now loo...

Re: Buck Pierce Winnipeg Bound ?

Actually, if you read the story on Pierce in Slamsports.ca , He's only had 2 conc's and the rest has been shoulder injuries. I'll take him as my QB on the Bombers. As for Kerry Joseph, Buck said the other day that he has only had one concussion in his career. I am very skeptical about the claims of...

Re: Player's Rights from U.S.

Eric Tillman used to publish his team's neg list on the Riderville site and that didn't seem to hurt the Riders.

Re: Player's Rights from U.S.

I thought there was something about a team only having a certain amount of time to sign a player once a player on a neg list notifies the league they intend to play in the CFL. Not exactly sure how that works or if I'm just imagining things.... Seems like a player could just wait out the team that ...

Re: Argos dump 3rd qb, Reaves.

There is always Reggie McNeal. The word is he's not being brought back at all. That's crazy! But maybe he doesn't fit the Barker gameplan but I'd take him on my squad for sure. Same here, Rids. I mean Reave's as green as grass. He could develop into a good qb. Argolio doesn't think much of him but ...

Re: Esks & Argos make trade

This was unexpected by me. WR would still seem to be one of the Canadian positions for the ratio, and I thought Talbot was still the best they had. Cetout has the potential if he can come back from injuries, the rest of them are still developing. Taylor is a good run stuffer from what I've seen and...

Re: LaPolice is Bombers new head coach

He was a good O-Coordinator when he was in the Peg before. He just had crappy coaches to work with. I'm pretty sure he'll be a lot better than Berry or Kelly. Lapolice's offence put up a lot of points in Winnipeg as I recall but many of the Bombers fans were still calling for his head for some reas...

Re: Memory Lane

I am not 100% sure about this but I believe that timeouts were introduced in the early 1980s. They might have come in in 1981 when the fully interlocking schedule was introduced.
