OFFICIAL HOLLYWOOD TOP 27 - WEEK 1

After one week of playing for keeps (everywhere except in the far east) the real debut of the OHT27 is here!!!!!

And who better to help out this week than Canadian acting(?) legend Pamela Anderson, seen from her early days. She was discovered whilst watching football. So always be sure to check for ladies like her in the crowd.

Image Image Image

PRIOR OHT27s: Pre-Season

STEP 1: WEEK 1 RESULTS
  • AUS - exhibition
    Saint Mary's 10 Mount Allison 16
    St. Francis-Xavier 24 Acadia 21

    CW
    Alberta 0 Saskatchewan 32
    Manitoba 31 UBC 24
    Regina 21 Calgary 37

    RSEQ
    Bishop's 36 Concordia 42
    Montreal 38 Sherbrooke 14
    McGill 15 Laval 33

    OUA
    Ottawa 18 Windsor 63
    Western Ontario 54 Waterloo 10
    Guelph 9 McMaster 50
    York 13 Queen's 48
    Laurier 0 Toronto 19
STEP 2: REGIONAL RANKINGS

The rankings show each team's conference record followed by their overall record. The games marked # are non-conference games. The games marked * are games against a jabroni.
  • CANADA WEST

    1 Manitoba (1-0, 2-0) beat Reg# UBC
    2 Calgary (1-0, 1-0) beat Reg
    3 Saskatchewan (1-0, 1-1) beat Alta*; lost to Gue#
    4 UBC (0-1, 0-2) lost to Men#; Man
    5 Regina (0-1, 0-2) lost to Man# Calg
    6 Alberta (0-1, 0-1) lost to Sask

Image Manitoba and Calgary both have a tidy 16 point win over Regina, Manitoba's being on the road and in pre-season. And Manitoba has a road win, always tougher in the CW than elsewhere. So, by the slimmest of margins, Manitoba gets the nod. Hard to gauge the Mongrels. They lost to Guelph who were hammered by Macaroni. And is a big win over Alberta an accomplishment? UBC and Regina fit in between quite obviously.

    ONTARIO

    1 McMaster (1-0, 1-1) beat Gue; lost to Lav#
    2 W. Ontario (1-0, 1-0) beat Wat
    3 Guelph (0-1, 1-1) beat Sask#; lost to McM
    4 Queen's (1-0, 2-0) beat McG# York
    5 Windsor (1-0, 1-1) beat Ott; lost to Mtl#
    6 Toronto (1-0, 1-1) beat Laur; lost to Conc#
    7 Ottawa (0-1, 0-1) lost to Wind
8 Laurier (0-1) lost to Tor
    9 Waterloo (0-1, 0-1) lost to WO
    10 York (0-1, 0-2) lost to Bish# Que
    11 Carleton (0-0)

Image The tightest game in the OUA was 19-0. Ugh. Teams that used to be good, like Ottawa and Laurier, now look like crap. At least Toronto and Windsor are showing signs of life. It is hard to tell what to make of Guelph. It could be that Macaroni are getting ready for a romp. And it is hard to tell if the Urban Cowboys and/or Queens are any good based on their opponents thus far. I suspect that this could be a year of defacto tiering in this conference.

    QUEBEC/ATLANTIC

    1 Laval (1-0, 2-0) beat McM# McG
    2 Montreal (1-0, 2-0) beat Wind# Sher
    3 Concordia (1-0, 2-0) beat Tor# Bish
    4 St. F-X (0-0, 1-0) beat Aca#
    5 Mount Allison (0-0, 1-0) beat SMU#
    6 Sherbrooke (0-1, 0-1) lost to Mtl
    7 Acadia (0-0, 0-1) lost to SFX#
    8 Bishop's (0-1, 1-1) beat York#; lost to Conc
    9 McGill (0-1, 0-2) lost to Que# Lav
    10 Saint Mary's (0-0, 0-1) lost to MtA#

Image Since there have not yet been any interlock games, this region is hard to rank on a regional basis. In Quebec, those Montreal results have raised my eyebrows. It would be nice to see a real race in the Q. The only Q teams without wins over the OUA were McGill (lost to the Queens) and Sherbrooke (who did not play Ottawa for a change). In the Atlantic, those exhibition games were odd. It is only exhibition but Acadia and SMU have to be rated behind the teams that beat them.
STEP 3: THE BLEND
  • ABOVE THE BLOB
    1 Laval (1-0, 2-0) beat McM# McG
    2 McMaster (1-0, 1-1) beat Gue; lost to Lav#
    3 Montreal (1-0, 2-0) beat Wind# Sher
    4 Manitoba (1-0, 2-0) beat Reg# UBC
    5 W. Ontario (1-0, 1-0) beat Wat*
    6 Calgary (1-0, 1-0) beat Reg

    THE BLOB
    7 Guelph (0-1, 1-1) beat Sask#; lost to McM
    8 Queen's (1-0, 2-0) beat McG# York*
    9 Saskatchewan (1-0, 1-1) beat Alta*; lost to Gue#
    10 Concordia (1-0, 2-0) beat Tor# Bish
    11 Windsor (1-0, 1-1) beat Ott; lost to Mtl#
    12 St. F-X (0-0, 1-0) beat Aca#
    13 Mount Allison (0-0, 1-0) beat SMU#

    THE HAM 'N EGGERS
    14 UBC (0-1, 0-2) lost to Men# Man
    15 Regina (0-1, 0-2) lost to Man# Calg
    16 Sherbrooke (0-1, 0-1) lost to Mtl
    17 Toronto (1-0, 1-1) beat Lau lost to Conc#
    18 Acadia (0-0, 0-1) lost to SFX#
    19 Bishop's (0-1, 1-1) beat York#*; lost to Conc
    20 McGill (0-1, 0-2) lost to Que# Lav
    21 Saint Mary's (0-0, 0-1) lost to MtA#
    22 Ottawa (0-1, 0-1) lost to Wind
    23 Laurier (0-1, 0-1) lost to Tor

    THE JABRONIS
    24 Alberta (0-1, 0-1) lost to Sask
    25 Waterloo (0-1, 0-1) lost to WO
    26 York (0-1, 0-2) lost to Bish# Que
    27 Carleton (0-0)

Image I usually don't break the teams into categories this early but the results really screamed out for it this year. Be aware that these ratings, and category placements, can vary greatly in the early weeks.

OFFICIAL HOLLYWOOD TOP 27 - WEEK 2

Welcome, fans of the OHT27! Yes, it is here on Sunday afternoon. I like it when the CIS wraps up on Saturday.

In honour of the first week of regular season games in the AUS I wanted help from an Atlantic babe. They are hard to find. Rita MacNeil kept wanting in, but jeesh. Sure she was funny on the Trailer Park Boys but not even Bubbles would want her. So Anastatia from Cape Breton came around in her bikini, but she was dumb as a post. Then Erin from Nova Scotia popped around, but what's with the boots? So I settled on Ellen Page, who should prove popular with the students out there.

Image Image Image Image

PRIOR OHT27s: Pre-Season : Week 1

STEP 1: WEEK 2 RESULTS

AUS
St. Francis-Xavier 51 Mount Allison 5
Saint Mary's 16 Acadia 21

RSEQ
Sherbrooke 46 McGill 14
Concordia 10 Montreal 48
Laval 28 Bishop's 22

OUA
McMaster 68 Waterloo 21
Toronto 7 Western Ontario 62
Ottawa 36 York 47
Guelph 28 Windsor 9
Queen's 42 Laurier 16

CW
Alberta 6 Calgary 65
UBC 20 Regina 49
Saskatchewan 28 Manitoba 31

STEP 2: REGIONAL RANKINGS

The rankings show each team's conference record followed by their overall record. The games marked # are non-conference games. The games marked * are games against a jabroni.

CANADA WEST

1 Calgary (2-0, 2-0) beat Reg Alta
2 Manitoba (2-0, 3-0) beat Reg# UBC Sask
3 Regina (1-1, 1-2) beat UBC; lost to Man# Calg
4 Saskatchewan (1-1, 1-2) beat Alta*; lost to Gue# Man
5 UBC (0-2, 0-3) lost to Men#; Man Reg
6 Alberta (0-2, 0-2) lost to Sask Cal

Image The picks at 1-2 and 3-4 could go either way. The extreme margins of victory gave Calgary and Regina the nod. Of course, in a week or two we will have better perspective on the results. We may say “So what that Calgary destroyed the Evil Monkeys?” We may say “Wow, Manitoba beat Sask, good for them.” Or we could be saying “Manitoba only beat those clowns by 3 at home? Disgraceful!”

ONTARIO

1 McMaster (2-0, 2-1) beat Gue Wat; lost to Lav#
2 W. Ontario (2-0, 2-0) beat Wat Tor
3 Guelph (1-1, 2-1) beat Sask# Wind; lost to McM
4 Queen's (2-0, 3-0) beat McG# York Laur
5 Windsor (1-1, 1-2) beat Ott*; lost to Mtl# Gue
6 Toronto (1-1, 1-2) beat Laur; lost to Conc# WO
7 Laurier (0-2) lost to Tor Que
8 York (1-1, 1-2) beat Ott*; lost to Bish# Que
9 Waterloo (0-2, 0-2) lost to WO McM
10 Ottawa (0-2, 0-2) lost to Wind York
11 Carleton (0-0)

Image This is the Year of the Wipeout in the OUA. The feature game this weekend turned out to be York's 11 point win over Ottawa. I'd rather see an Angelo Mosca v Joe Kapp rematch, or Barry Horowitz v Duane Gill, than another Jabronifest between those two. The next closest game was Guelph's 19 point win over Windsor. Next week's menu offers us hope of some better games. Despite a pre-season loss, Macaroni still gets the nod because at least they beat Guelph. We anxiously await seeing the Urban Cowboys and Queens play an actual football team. One final word: Ottawa: Thou art jabroni. Can York escape jabronidom? Let's hope so. Could Ottawa actually sink below Carleton? Maybe!

QUEBEC/ATLANTIC

1 Montreal (2-0, 3-0) beat Wind# Sher Conc
2 Laval (2-0, 3-0) beat McM# McG Bish
3 Concordia (1-1, 2-1) beat Tor# Bish; lost to Mtl
4 St. F-X (1-0, 2-0) beat Aca# MtA
5 Sherbrooke (1-1, 1-1) beat McG; lost to Mtl
6 Acadia (1-0, 1-1) beat SMU; lost to SFX#
7 Bishop's (0-2, 1-2) beat York#; lost to Conc Lav
8 McGill (0-2, 0-3) lost to Que# Lav Sher
9 Mount Allison (0-1, 1-1) beat SMU#; lost to SFX
10 Saint Mary's (0-1, 0-2) lost to MtA# Aca

Image Mount Allison takes a big tumble, and Laval's narrow win over Bishop's caused some shuffling. Otherwise everybody held their ground. After the interlock we will be better able to gauge these teams. I did bump Bishop's into The Blob.

STEP 3: THE BLEND

ABOVE THE BLOB
1 Montreal (2-0, 3-0) beat Wind# Sher Conc
2 Calgary (2-0, 2-0) beat Reg Alta
3 Laval (2-0, 3-0) beat McM# McG Bish
4 McMaster (2-0, 2-1) beat Gue Wat; lost to Lav#
5 Manitoba (2-0, 3-0) beat Reg# UBC Sask
6 W. Ontario (2-0, 2-0) beat Wat Tor

THE BLOB
7 Concordia (1-1, 2-1) beat Tor# Bish; lost to Mtl
8 Regina (1-1, 1-2) beat UBC; lost to Man# Calg
9 Guelph (1-1, 2-1) beat Sask# Wind; lost to McM
10 St. F-X (1-0, 2-0) beat Aca# MtA
11 Saskatchewan (1-1, 1-2) beat Alta*; lost to Gue# Man
12 Queen's (2-0, 3-0) beat McG# York Laur
13 Sherbrooke (1-1, 1-1) beat McG; lost to Mtl
14 Acadia (1-0, 1-1) beat SMU; lost to SFX#
15 Windsor (1-1, 1-2) beat Ott*; lost to Mtl# Gue
16 Bishop's (0-2, 1-2) beat York#; lost to Conc Lav

THE HAM 'N EGGERS
17 UBC (0-2, 0-3) lost to Men#; Man Reg
18 Toronto (1-1, 1-2) beat Laur; lost to Conc# WO
19 McGill (0-2, 0-3) lost to Que# Lav Sher
20 Mount Allison (0-1, 1-1) beat SMU#; lost to SFX
21 Saint Mary's (0-1, 0-2) lost to MtA# Aca
22 Laurier (0-2) lost to Tor Que

THE JABRONIS
23 York (1-1, 1-2) beat Ott*; lost to Bish# Que
24 Waterloo (0-2, 0-2) lost to WO McM
25 Alberta (0-2, 0-2) lost to Sask Cal
26 Ottawa (0-2, 0-2) lost to Wind York
27 Carleton (0-0)

Image If somebody would have said a coule years back that Ottawa and Alberta would be jabronis, and Saint Mary's was flirting with jabroni status, nobody would have thought it possible. Next week has loads of key matchups which will put past results into better context I suspect that the stage will then be set for the season.

OFFICIAL HOLLYWOOD TOP 27 - WEEK 3

It's here! It's here! Sure, it's Thursday, but with CIS hockey starting and the Winnipeg Goldeyes winning a championship last Friday the OHT27 had to be moved down on the priority list. So I huddled up with the knowledgeable OHT27 from Canada's lingerie football teams and came up with the most authoritative ranking in college football today.

Image Image Image Image

PRIOR OHT27s: Pre-Season : Week 1 : Week 2

STEP 1: WEEK 3 RESULTS

AUS-RSEQ
Mount Allison 9 McGill 36
Sherbrooke 23 Saint Mary's 22
Concordia 41 St. Francis-Xavier 20
Acadia 7 Laval 31
Bishop's 15 Montreal 45

OUA
York 20 Laurier 24
Waterloo 17 Guelph 47
Western Ontario 11 Queen's 18
McMaster 45 Ottawa 16
Windsor 55 Toronto 4

CW
Regina 31 Alberta 17
Calgary 33 Manitoba 12
Saskatchewan 39 UBC 34

STEP 2: REGIONAL RANKINGS

The rankings show each team's conference record followed by their overall record. The games marked # are non-conference games. The games marked * are games against a jabroni.

CANADA WEST

1 Calgary (3-0, 3-0) beat Reg Alta Man
2 Manitoba (2-1, 3-1) beat Reg# UBC Sask; lost to Cal
3 Regina (2-1, 2-2) beat UBC Alta*; lost to Man# Calg
4 Saskatchewan (2-1, 2-2) beat Alta* UBC; lost to Gue# Man
5 UBC (0-3, 0-4) lost to Men#; Man Reg Sask
6 Alberta (0-3, 0-3) lost to Sask Cal Reg

Image No change to the conference rankings. However, this week the OHT27, at the insistence of the lingerie ladies, the “Contenders” category has emerged and Calgary makes the cut, Manitoba does not. Regina and Sask remain blob dwellers, UBC is a high-rent ham'n'egger, and the Evil Monkeys are to be scoffed at and ridiculed.

ONTARIO

1 McMaster (3-0, 3-1) beat Gue Wat* Ott*; lost to Lav#
2 Queen's (3-0, 4-0) beat McG# York* Laur WO
3 W. Ontario (2-1, 2-1) beat Wat* Tor; lost to Que
4 Guelph (2-1, 3-1) beat Sask# Wind Wat*; lost to McM
5 Windsor (2-1, 2-2) beat Ott* Tor; lost to Mtl# Gue
6 Toronto (1-2, 1-3) beat Laur; lost to Conc# WO Wind
7 Laurier (1-2) beat York*; lost to Tor Que
8 York (1-2, 1-3) beat Ott*; lost to Bish# Que Laur
9 Waterloo (0-3, 0-3) lost to WO McM Gue
10 Ottawa (0-3, 0-3) lost to Wind York* McM
11 Carleton (0-0)

Image Well, at least the OUA produced two close games to go with three blowouts. The win for the Queens over the Urban Cowboys has great import. Welcome to the blob!

QUEBEC/ATLANTIC

1 Montreal (3-0, 4-0) beat Wind# Sher Conc Bish
2 Laval (3-0, 4-0) beat McM# McG Bish Aca
3 Concordia (2-1, 3-1) beat Tor# Bish SFX; lost to Mtl
5 Sherbrooke (2-1, 2-1) beat McG SMU*; lost to Mtl
4 St. F-X (1-1, 2-1) beat Aca# MtA*; lost to Conc
7 Bishop's (0-3, 1-3) beat York#; lost to Conc Lav Mtl
6 Acadia (1-1, 1-2) beat SMU*; lost to SFX# Lav
8 McGill (1-2, 1-3) beat MtA*; lost to Que# Lav Sher
9 Mount Allison (0-2, 1-2) beat SMU#*; lost to SFX McG
10 Saint Mary's (0-2, 0-3) lost to MtA#* Aca Sher

Image The sweep of the AUS by the Q results in a general downgrade of the A Teams. I pity the fool who bet on them! That exhibition win for the Mounted is looking more out of place every week.

STEP 3: THE BLEND

CONTENDERS
1 Montreal (3-0, 4-0) beat Wind# Sher Conc Bish
2 Calgary (3-0, 3-0) beat Reg Alta Man
3 Laval (3-0, 4-0) beat McM# McG Bish Aca
4 McMaster (3-0, 3-1) beat Gue Wat* Ott*; lost to Lav#

THE BLOB
5 Manitoba (2-1, 3-1) beat Reg# UBC Sask; lost to Cal
6 Queen's (3-0, 4-0) beat McG# York* Laur WO
7 W. Ontario (2-1, 2-1) beat Wat* Tor; lost to Que
8 Concordia (2-1, 3-1) beat Tor# Bish SFX; lost to Mtl
9 Regina (2-1, 2-2) beat UBC Alta*; lost to Man# Calg
10 Guelph (2-1, 3-1) beat Sask# Wind Wat*; lost to McM
11 Saskatchewan (2-1, 2-2) beat Alta* UBC; lost to Gue# Man
12 Sherbrooke (2-1, 2-1) beat McG SMU*; lost to Mtl
13 St. F-X (1-1, 2-1) beat Aca# MtA*; lost to Conc
14 Windsor (2-1, 2-2) beat Ott* Tor; lost to Mtl# Gue

THE HAM 'N EGGERS
15 Bishop's (0-3, 1-3) beat York#; lost to Conc Lav Mtl
16 Acadia (1-1, 1-2) beat SMU*; lost to SFX# Lav
17 UBC (0-3, 0-4) lost to Men#; Man Reg Sask
18 McGill (1-2, 1-3) beat MtA*; lost to Que# Lav Sher
19 Toronto (1-2, 1-3) beat Laur; lost to Conc# WO Wind
20 Laurier (1-2) beat York*; lost to Tor Que

THE JABRONIS
21 York (1-2, 1-3) beat Ott*; lost to Bish# Que Laur
22 Alberta (0-3, 0-3) lost to Sask Cal Reg
23 Mount Allison (0-2, 1-2) beat SMU#*; lost to SFX McG
24 Saint Mary's (0-2, 0-3) lost to MtA#* Aca Sher
25 Waterloo (0-3, 0-3) lost to WO McM Gue
26 Ottawa (0-3, 0-3) lost to Wind York* McM
27 Carleton (0-0)

Image So, there you have it. Every team, duly ranked.

OFFICIAL HOLLYWOOD TOP 27 - WEEK 3

Howdy, OHT27 fans!

Well, this week I had very little help. Ever wonder what happened to Hef's girlfriends after their Surreality TV Series ended? Well, they wound up dumped in my basement for the weekend. Sure, they were a pain. But they did some good work, not OHT27-related.

Image

PRIOR OHT27s: Pre-Season : Week 1 : Week 2 : Week 3

STEP 1: WEEK 4 RESULTS

AUS
Acadia 26 Saint Mary's 10
StFX 17 Mount Allison 36

QSSF
Laval 69 McGill 0
Concordia 30 Bishop's 38
Sherbrooke 6 Montreal 15

OUA
Toronto 29 Guelph 31
Laurier 35 Ottawa 27
Waterloo 23 York 22
Windsor 26 Western Ontario 43
Queen's 20 McMaster 33

CW
Regina 35 Saskatchewan 26
Manitoba 51 Alberta 38
Calgary 62 UBC 7

STEP 2: REGIONAL RANKINGS

The rankings show each team's conference record followed by their overall record. The games marked # are non-conference games. The games marked * are games against a jabroni.

CANADA WEST

1 Calgary (4-0, 4-0) beat Reg Alta* Man UBC
2 Manitoba (3-1, 4-1) beat Reg# UBC Sask Alta*; lost to Cal
3 Regina (3-1, 3-2) beat UBC Alta* Sask; lost to Man# Calg
4 Saskatchewan (2-2, 2-3) beat Alta* UBC; lost to Gue# Man Reg
5 UBC (0-4, 0-5) lost to Men#; Man Reg Sask Cal
6 Alberta (0-4, 0-4) lost to Sask Cal Reg Man

Image The rankings in the CW are easy: Calgary beat Manitoba who beat Regina who beat Saskatchewan who beat UBC and Alberta. This week UBC and Alberta can determine 5th for once and for all.

ONTARIO

1 McMaster (4-0, 4-1) beat Gue Wat* Ott* Que; lost to Lav#
2 Queen's (3-1, 4-1) beat McG# York* Laur WO; lost to McM
3 W. Ontario (3-1, 3-1) beat Wat* Tor Wind; lost to Que
4 Guelph (3-1, 4-1) beat Sask# Wind Wat* Tor; lost to McM
5 Windsor (2-2, 2-3) beat Ott* Tor; lost to Mtl# Gue WO
6 Toronto (1-3, 1-4) beat Laur; lost to Conc# WO Wind Gue
7 Laurier (2-2, 2-2) beat York* Ott*; lost to Tor Que
8 Waterloo (1-3, 1-3) beat York*; lost to WO McM Gue
9 York (1-3, 1-4) beat Ott*; lost to Bish# Que Laur Wat*
10 Ottawa (0-4, 0-4) lost to Wind York* McM Laur
11 Carleton (0-0)

Image For rankings purposes, the OUA has fallen into place nicely so far. There has been no result this year inconsistent with the foregoing ranking. The defacto two tiers, though, have diminished things. One ham'n'egger will qualify for the quarter-finals.

QUEBEC/ATLANTIC

1 Montreal (4-0, 5-0) beat Wind# Sher Conc Bish Sher
2 Laval (4-0, 5-0) beat McM# McG Bish Aca McG
3 Bishop's (1-3, 2-3) beat York# Conc; lost to Conc Lav Mtl
4 Concordia (2-2, 3-2) beat Tor# Bish SFX; lost to Mtl Bish
5 Sherbrooke (2-2, 2-2) beat McG SMU*; lost to Mtl Mtl
6 McGill (1-3, 1-4) beat MtA*; lost to Que# Lav Sher Lav
7 St. F-X (1-2, 2-2) beat Aca# MtA*; lost to Conc MtA*
8 Mount Allison (1-2, 2-2) beat SMU#* SFX; lost to SFX McG
9 Acadia (2-1, 2-2) beat SMU* SMU*; lost to SFX# Lav
10 Saint Mary's (0-3, 0-4) lost to MtA#* Aca Sher Aca

Image This has never happened before. The AUS has the bottom four ranking places in this regional ranking. McGill beat Mount Allison, who split with St. F-X, and they both have wins over Acadia and SMU. Bishop's, Concordia, and Sherbrooke could be in any order. If the AUS teams could just whip the **** out of MtA then maybe the perception of them would change.

STEP 3: THE BLEND

CONTENDERS
1 Montreal (4-0, 5-0) beat Wind# Sher Conc Bish Sher
2 Calgary (4-0, 4-0) beat Reg Alta* Man UBC
3 Laval (4-0, 5-0) beat McM# McG Bish Aca McG
4 McMaster (4-0, 4-1) beat Gue Wat* Ott* Que; lost to Lav#

THE BLOB

13 Saskatchewan (2-2, 2-3) beat Alta* UBC; lost to Gue# Man Reg
14 Windsor (2-2, 2-3) beat Ott* Tor; lost to Mtl# Gue WO

THE HAM 'N EGGERS
15 McGill (1-3, 1-4) beat MtA*; lost to Que# Lav Sher Lav
16 Toronto (1-3, 1-4) beat Laur; lost to Conc# WO Wind Gue
17 St. F-X (1-2, 2-2) beat Aca# MtA*; lost to Conc MtA*
18 Mount Allison (1-2, 2-2) beat SMU#* SFX; lost to SFX McG
19 Laurier (2-2, 2-2) beat York* Ott*; lost to Tor Que
20 Acadia (2-1, 2-2) beat SMU* SMU*; lost to SFX# Lav
21 UBC (0-4, 0-5) lost to Men#; Man Reg Sask Cal

THE JABRONIS
22 Waterloo (1-3, 1-3) beat York*; lost to WO McM Gue
23 York (1-3, 1-4) beat Ott*; lost to Bish# Que Laur Wat*
24 Alberta (0-4, 0-4) lost to Sask Cal Reg Man
25 Saint Mary's (0-3, 0-4) lost to MtA#* Aca Sher Aca
26 Ottawa (0-4, 0-4) lost to Wind York* McM Laur
27 Carleton (0-0)

Image By applying the “who-beat-whom” criteria things are sorting out rather well. The four contenders only have one game between them, Laval's exhibition win over Macaroni. Otherwise, pick 'em.

The Blob has a distinct Upper and Lower Class as well. In the Upper, Queen's and Manitoba are a dead heat, with Queen's getting the edge on margin of defeat. Regina could be argued to be ahead of the Urban Cowboys. In the Lower, Bishop's, Concordia, Guelph, and Sherbrooke are all a dead heat, and all rank ahead of Sask and Windsor.

The Jabronis seem capable of rising to Ham'n'Egger status at times. The sepration between these categories is not as big this year as in years past.

OFFICIAL HOLLYWOOD TOP 27 - WEEK 5

After Hef's chicks left I had to have the place fumigated before having the lovely ladies of the sports media over for the week 5 ratings discussion. So, here's a Thursday night treat for the fans of the OHT27.

Image Image Image Image Image

PRIOR OHT27s: Pre-Season : Week 1 : Week 2 : Week 3 : Week 4

STEP 1: WEEK 5 RESULTS

AUS
Saint Mary's 32 St. Francis-Xavier 9
Mount Allison 6 Acadia 30

QSSF
Montreal 38 Concordia 0
McGill 18 Bishop's 26
Laval 48 Sherbrooke 10

OUA
Guelph 22 Laurier 19
Toronto 40 Waterloo 26
McMaster 33 Western Ontario 27
Ottawa 25 Queen's 32
York 22 Windsor 26

CW
Manitoba 27 Regina 30
UBC 29 Alberta 10
Saskatchewan 4 Calgary 45

STEP 2: REGIONAL RANKINGS

The rankings show each team's conference record followed by their overall record. The games marked # are non-conference games. The games marked * are games against a jabroni.

CANADA WEST

1 Calgary (5-0, 5-0) beat Reg Alta* Man UBC Sask
2 Regina (4-1, 4-2) beat UBC Alta* Sask Man; lost to Man# Calg
3 Manitoba (3-2, 4-2) beat Reg# UBC Sask Alta*; lost to Cal Reg
4 Saskatchewan (2-3, 2-4) beat Alta* UBC; lost to Gue# Man Reg Cal
5 UBC (1-4, 1-5) beat Alta; lost to Men#; Man Reg Sask Cal
6 Alberta (0-5, 0-5) lost to Sask Cal Reg Man UBC

Image This is easy. Regina beat Manitoba, they do a leapfrog, UBC beats Alberta, and everybody dutifully falls into place. The teams have now played a round-robin in the regular season.

ONTARIO

1 McMaster (5-0, 5-1) beat Gue Wat* Ott* Que WO; lost to Lav#
2 Queen's (4-1, 5-1) beat McG# York* Laur WO Ott*; lost to McM
3 W. Ontario (3-2, 3-2) beat Wat* Tor Wind; lost to Que McM
4 Guelph (4-1, 5-1) beat Sask# Wind Wat* Tor Laur; lost to McM
5 Windsor (3-2, 2-3) beat Ott* Tor York*; lost to Mtl# Gue WO
6 Toronto (2-3, 2-4) beat Laur Wat*; lost to Conc# WO Wind Gue
7 Laurier (2-3, 2-3) beat York* Ott*; lost to Tor Que Gue
8 Waterloo (1-4, 1-4) beat York*; lost to WO McM Gue Tor
9 York (1-4, 1-5) beat Ott*; lost to Bish# Que Laur Wat* Wind
10 Ottawa (0-5, 0-5) lost to Wind York* McM Laur Que
11 Carleton (0-0)

Image Finally, some close games in the OUA. Hopefully this a harbinger of things to come. That said, there were no upsets and therefore no changes in the ratings.

QUEBEC/ATLANTIC

1 Montreal (5-0, 6-0) beat Wind# Sher Conc Bish Sher Conc
2 Laval (5-0, 6-0) beat McM# McG Bish Aca McG Sher
3 Bishop's (2-3, 3-3) beat York# Conc McG; lost to Conc Lav Mtl
4 Concordia (2-3, 3-3) beat Tor# Bish SFX; lost to Mtl Bish Mtl
5 Sherbrooke (2-3, 2-3) beat McG SMU*; lost to Mtl Mtl Lav
6 McGill (1-4, 1-5) beat MtA*; lost to Que# Lav Sher Lav Bish
7 Acadia (3-1, 3-2) beat SMU* SMU* MtA; lost to SFX# Lav
8 St. F-X (1-3, 2-3) beat Aca# MtA*; lost to Conc MtA* SMU
9 Mount Allison (1-3, 2-3) beat SMU#* SFX; lost to SFX McG Aca
10 Saint Mary's (1-3, 1-4) beat SFX; lost to MtA#* Aca Sher Aca

Image The AUS is, I suppose, getting to be more what was expected in pre-season. Acadia and SMU picked up wins, which throws the ratings into turmoil. Still, the conference has the bottom four spots in the regional poll, and that will be hard to change given the lack of interlocking games remaining on the schedule. Also, since they are all picking up wins they vacate jabronism for now.

STEP 3: THE BLEND

CONTENDERS
1 Montreal (5-0, 6-0) beat Wind# Sher Conc Bish Sher Conc
2 Calgary (5-0, 5-0) beat Reg Alta* Man UBC Sask
3 Laval (5-0, 6-0) beat McM# McG Bish Aca McG Sher
4 McMaster (5-0, 5-1) beat Gue Wat* Ott* Que WO; lost to Lav#

THE BLOB

Upper Blob
5 Queen's (4-1, 5-1) beat McG# York* Laur WO Ott*; lost to McM
6 Regina (4-1, 4-2) beat UBC Alta* Sask Man; lost to Man# Calg
7 W. Ontario (3-2, 3-2) beat Wat* Tor Wind; lost to Que McM
8 Manitoba (3-2, 4-2) beat Reg# UBC Sask Alta*; lost to Cal Reg

Lower Blob
9 Bishop's (2-3, 3-3) beat York# Conc McG; lost to Conc Lav Mtl
10 Guelph (4-1, 5-1) beat Sask# Wind Wat* Tor Laur; lost to McM
11 Concordia (2-3, 3-3) beat Tor# Bish SFX; lost to Mtl Bish Mtl
12 Sherbrooke (2-3, 2-3) beat McG SMU*; lost to Mtl Mtl Lav
13 Saskatchewan (2-3, 2-4) beat Alta* UBC; lost to Gue# Man Reg Cal
14 Windsor (3-2, 2-3) beat Ott* Tor York*; lost to Mtl# Gue WO

THE HAM 'N EGGERS
15 McGill (1-4, 1-5) beat MtA*; lost to Que# Lav Sher Lav Bish
16 Toronto (2-3, 2-4) beat Laur Wat*; lost to Conc# WO Wind Gue
17 Acadia (3-1, 3-2) beat SMU* SMU* MtA; lost to SFX# Lav
18 UBC (1-4, 1-5) beat Alta; lost to Men#; Man Reg Sask Cal
19 St. F-X (1-3, 2-3) beat Aca# MtA*; lost to Conc MtA* SMU
20 Laurier (2-3, 2-3) beat York* Ott*; lost to Tor Que Gue
21 Mount Allison (1-3, 2-3) beat SMU#* SFX; lost to SFX McG Aca
22 Saint Mary's (1-3, 1-4) beat SFX; lost to MtA#* Aca Sher Aca

THE JABRONIS
23 Waterloo (1-4, 1-4) beat York*; lost to WO McM Gue Tor
24 York (1-4, 1-5) beat Ott*; lost to Bish# Que Laur Wat* Wind
25 Alberta (0-5, 0-5) lost to Sask Cal Reg Man UBC
26 Ottawa (0-5, 0-5) lost to Wind York* McM Laur Que
27 Carleton (0-0)

Image This was a status quo week (but for Regina's leapfrog over Manitoba) amongst the Contenders and The Blob. However, the Ham 'n Eggers and Jabronis have a very blurry line between them now. Perhaps things can be spiced up if UBC can win their last home game against Regina next weekend, or somebody from the bottom half of the OUA manages a win.

OFFICIAL HOLLYWOOD TOP 27 - WEEK 6

The CW had a week off so I, too, was going to take a week off. But Trish Stratus called and we decided to put our heads together and I think you will appreciate the effort.

Image Image Image

PRIOR OHT27s: Pre-Season : Week 1 : Week 2 : Week 3 : Week 4 : Week 5

STEP 1: WEEK 6 RESULTS

AUS
Mount Allison 7 Saint Mary's 43
Acadia 41 StFX 14

RSEQ
Bishop's 20 McGill 34
Sherbrooke 48 Concordia 6
Montreal 11 Laval 30

OUA
McMaster 54 York 14
Waterloo 0 Laurier 12
Ottawa 34 Toronto 6
Western Ontario 39 Guelph 42
Queen's 24 Windsor 7

Image Bye week means no changes.

ONTARIO

1 McMaster (6-0, 6-1) beat Gue Wat* Ott* Que WO York*; lost to Lav#
2 Queen's (5-1, 6-1) beat McG# York* Laur WO Ott* Wind; lost to McM 3 Guelph (5-1, 6-1) beat Sask# Wind Wat* Tor Laur WO; lost to McM
4 W. Ontario (3-3, 3-3) beat Wat* Tor Wind; lost to Que McM Gue
5 Windsor (3-3, 3-4) beat Ott* Tor York*; lost to Mtl# Gue WO Que
6 Toronto (2-4, 2-5) beat Laur Wat*; lost to Conc# WO Wind Gue Ott*
7 Laurier (3-3, 3-3) beat York* Ott* Wat*; lost to Tor Que Gue
8 Waterloo (1-5, 1-5) beat York*; lost to WO McM Gue Tor Laur
9 York (1-5, 1-6) beat Ott*; lost to Bish# Que Laur Wat* Wind McM
10 Ottawa (1-5, 1-5) beat Tor; lost to Wind York* McM Laur Que
11 Carleton (0-0)

Image The OUA generated some close games and then stepped up to actually produce some upsets. Guelph knocked off the Urban Cowboys and Ottawa knocked off Toronto. Still nothing where the bottom half beats the top half, but still it is progress. This allows Guelph to leapfrog into #3. But Ottawa, with losses to Laurier (who were beaten by Toronto) and York, stay put. This is the conundrum of the circle phenomenon in rankings, i.e. A beat B, B beat C, and C beat A.

QUEBEC/ATLANTIC

1 Laval (6-0, 7-0) beat McM# McG Bish Aca McG Sher Mtl
2 Montreal (5-1, 6-1) beat Wind# Sher Conc Bish Sher Conc; lost to Lav
3 Sherbrooke (3-3, 3-3) beat McG SMU* Conc; lost to Mtl Mtl Lav
4 Bishop's (2-4, 3-4) beat York# Conc McG; lost to Conc Lav Mtl McG
5 Concordia (2-4, 3-4) beat Tor# Bish SFX*; lost to Mtl Bish Mtl Sher
6 McGill (2-4, 2-5) beat MtA* Bish; lost to Que# Lav Sher Lav Bish
7 Acadia (4-1, 4-2) beat SMU* SMU* MtA* SFX*; lost to SFX#* Lav
8 Saint Mary's (2-3, 2-4) beat SFX* MtA*; lost to MtA#* Aca Sher Aca
9 St. F-X (1-4, 2-4) beat Aca# MtA*; lost to Conc MtA* SMU Aca
10 Mount Allison (1-4, 2-4) beat SMU#* SFX*; lost to SFX* McG Aca SMU*

Image The AUS is normalizing. Acadia's loss to Laval is looking a lot better, given Laval's crushing of Montreal. They have now atoned for that exhibition loss to SFX. Those exhibition wins by the Jeremies and the Mounted can now be fully discounted. SMU is nothing special, but at least they can wipe their feet on the others. Could McGill join the fray in the Q's playoff race? Sherbooke vaulted into #3 but rankings for the middle of this pack are tenuous.

STEP 3: THE BLEND

CONTENDERS
1 Laval (6-0, 7-0) beat McM# McG Bish Aca McG Sher Mtl
2 Calgary (5-0, 5-0) beat Reg Alta* Man UBC Sask
3 McMaster (6-0, 6-1) beat Gue Wat* Ott* Que WO York*; lost to Lav#
4 Montreal (5-1, 6-1) beat Wind# Sher Conc Bish Sher Conc; lost to Lav

THE BLOB

Upper Blob
5 Queen's (5-1, 6-1) beat McG# York* Laur WO Ott* Wind; lost to McM
6 Regina (4-1, 4-2) beat UBC Alta* Sask Man; lost to Man# Calg
7 Manitoba (3-2, 4-2) beat Reg# UBC Sask Alta*; lost to Cal Reg
8 Guelph (5-1, 6-1) beat Sask# Wind Wat* Tor Laur WO; lost to McM
9 W. Ontario (3-3, 3-3) beat Wat* Tor Wind; lost to Que McM Gue

Lower Blob
10 Sherbrooke (3-3, 3-3) beat McG SMU* Conc; lost to Mtl Mtl Lav
11 Saskatchewan (2-3, 2-4) beat Alta* UBC; lost to Gue# Man Reg Cal
12 Bishop's (2-4, 3-4) beat York# Conc McG; lost to Conc Lav Mtl McG
13 Concordia (2-4, 3-4) beat Tor# Bish SFX*; lost to Mtl Bish Mtl Sher
14 Windsor (3-3, 3-4) beat Ott* Tor York*; lost to Mtl# Gue WO Que

THE HAM 'N EGGERS
15 McGill (2-4, 2-5) beat MtA* Bish; lost to Que# Lav Sher Lav Bish
16 Acadia (4-1, 4-2) beat SMU* SMU* MtA* SFX*; lost to SFX#* Lav
17 UBC (1-4, 1-5) beat Alta; lost to Men#; Man Reg Sask Cal
18 Saint Mary's (2-3, 2-4) beat SFX* MtA*; lost to MtA#* Aca Sher Aca
19 Toronto (2-4, 2-5) beat Laur Wat*; lost to Conc# WO Wind Gue Ott*
20 Laurier (3-3, 3-3) beat York* Ott* Wat*; lost to Tor Que Gue

THE JABRONIS
21 Waterloo (1-5, 1-5) beat York*; lost to WO McM Gue Tor Laur
22 York (1-5, 1-6) beat Ott*; lost to Bish# Que Laur Wat* Wind McM
23 Ottawa (1-5, 1-5) beat Tor; lost to Wind York* McM Laur Que
24 Alberta (0-5, 0-5) lost to Sask Cal Reg Man UBC
25 St. F-X (1-4, 2-4) beat Aca# MtA*; lost to Conc MtA* SMU Aca
26 Mount Allison (1-4, 2-4) beat SMU#* SFX*; lost to SFX* McG Aca SMU*
27 Carleton (0-0)

Image Even though there were no games in the CW, there was much movement in the rankings due to the unexpected results. Laval's crushing of Montreal vaults them up, and allows Macaroni to enter a valid claim to be as high as #2. The margin of defeat convinced me to move Montreal down to #4. In upward mobility, Guelph has become Upper Blob. On the down escalator, Chez Jambroni was holding a reservation for two and the Jeremies and the Mounted finally showed up.

OFFICIAL HOLLYWOOD TOP 27 - WEEK 7

This was a week of turmoil. So who better to help than Kim Cattrall? When she talks, she can make CIS football rankings sound dirty. And that can be a good thing.

Image

PRIOR OHT27s: Pre-Season : Week 1 : Week 2 : Week 3 : Week 4 : Week 5 : Week 6

STEP 1: WEEK 7 RESULTS

AUS
St. Francis-Xavier 26 Acadia 47
Saint Mary's 12 Mount Allison 25

RSEQ
Bishop's 28 Sherbrooke 40
Laval 20 Montreal 23
Concordia 43 McGill 40

OUA
York 36 Toronto 24
Laurier 3 Western Ontario 56
Windsor 18 McMaster 39
Waterloo 0 Ottawa 61
Queen's 28 Guelph 33

CW
Manitoba 39 Saskatchewan 44
Calgary 51 Alberta 1
Regina 17 UBC 24

STEP 2: REGIONAL RANKINGS

The rankings show each team's conference record followed by their overall record. The games marked # are non-conference games. The games marked * are games against a jabroni.

CANADA WEST

1 Calgary (6-0, 6-0) beat Reg Alta* Man UBC Sask Alta*
2 Regina (4-2, 4-3) beat UBC Alta* Sask Man; lost to Man# Calg UBC
3 Saskatchewan (3-3, 3-4) beat Alta* UBC Man; lost to Gue# Man Reg Cal
4 Manitoba (3-3, 4-3) beat Reg# UBC Sask Alta*; lost to Cal Reg Sask
5 UBC (2-4, 2-5) beat Alta* Reg; lost to Men#; Man Reg Sask Cal
6 Alberta (0-6, 0-6) lost to Sask Cal Reg Man UBC Cal

Image UBC and Sask managed to reverse their results in this the first week of return games. Will this mark a trend? Will Alberta scrounge a win? Manitoba's case of the yips for the second week in a row moves them down to #4 and the middle are snuggled just a little bit closer in the rankings.

ONTARIO

1 McMaster (7-0, 7-1) beat Gue Wat* Ott Que WO York Wind; lost to Lav#
2 Guelph (6-1, 7-1) beat Sask# Wind Wat* Tor Laur WO Que; lost to McM
3 Queen's (5-2, 6-2) beat McG# York Laur WO Ott Wind; lost to McM Gue
4 W. Ontario (4-3, 4-3) beat Wat* Tor Wind Laur; lost to Que McM Gue
5 Windsor (3-4, 3-5) beat Ott Tor York; lost to Mtl# Gue WO Que McM
6 Laurier (3-4, 3-4) beat York Ott Wat*; lost to Tor Que Gue WO
7 York (2-5, 2-6) beat Ott Tor; lost to Bish# Que Laur Wat* Wind McM
8 Ottawa (2-5, 2-5) beat Tor Wat*; lost to Wind York McM Laur Que
9 Toronto (2-5, 2-6) beat Laur Wat*; lost to Conc# WO Wind Gue Ott York
10 Waterloo (1-6, 1-6) beat York; lost to WO McM Gue Tor Laur Ott
11 Carleton (0-0)

Image This was a shake-up weekend in the OUA. York and Guelph chalked up wins which shake things up. In fact, the results of the last 2 weeks leave Waterloo as the OUA's sole remaining jabroni. Laurier, York, Ottawa, and Toronto are in a near dead-heat. So either all are ham'n'eggers or all are jabronis, and one would have to say ham'n'eggers comes closer to the mark for them now.

QUEBEC/ATLANTIC

1 Laval (6-1, 7-1) beat McM# McG Bish Aca McG Sher Mtl; lost to Mtl
2 Montreal (6-1, 7-1) beat Wind# Sher Conc Bish Sher Conc Lav; lost to Lav
3 Sherbrooke (4-3, 4-3) beat McG SMU* Conc Bish; lost to Mtl Mtl Lav
4 Concordia (3-4, 4-4) beat Tor# Bish SFX* McG; lost to Mtl Bish Mtl Sher
5 Bishop's (2-5, 3-5) beat York# Conc McG; lost to Conc Lav Mtl McG Sher
6 Acadia (5-1, 5-2) beat SMU* SMU* MtA* SFX* SFX*; lost to SFX#* Lav
7 McGill (2-5, 2-6) beat MtA* Bish; lost to Que# Lav Sher Lav Bish Conc
8 Saint Mary's (2-4, 2-5) beat SFX* MtA*; lost to MtA#* Aca Sher Aca MtA*
9 Mount Allison (2-4, 3-4) beat SMU#* SFX* SMU*; lost to SFX* McG Aca SMU*
10 St. F-X (1-5, 2-5) beat Aca# MtA*; lost to Conc MtA* SMU* Aca Aca

Image Only minor shake-ups here. McGill blew a chance for an upgrade, Concordia and Bishop's switch spots, the Mounted escape the cellar, and SMU are solidifying the jabroni status. That's almost unbelievable. I also have Acadia nudging past McGill.

STEP 3: THE BLEND

CONTENDERS
1 McMaster (7-0, 7-1) beat Gue Wat* Ott Que WO York Wind; lost to Lav#

THE HAM 'N EGGERS
16 Windsor (3-4, 3-5) beat Ott Tor York; lost to Mtl# Gue WO Que McM
17 McGill (2-5, 2-6) beat MtA* Bish; lost to Que# Lav Sher Lav Bish Conc
18 Laurier (3-4, 3-4) beat York Ott Wat*; lost to Tor Que Gue WO
19 York (2-5, 2-6) beat Ott Tor; lost to Bish# Que Laur Wat* Wind McM
20 Ottawa (2-5, 2-5) beat Tor Wat*; lost to Wind York McM Laur Que
21 Toronto (2-5, 2-6) beat Laur Wat*; lost to Conc# WO Wind Gue Ott York

THE JABRONIS
22 Waterloo (1-6, 1-6) beat York; lost to WO McM Gue Tor Laur Ott
23 Saint Mary's (2-4, 2-5) beat SFX* MtA*; lost to MtA#* Aca Sher Aca MtA*

25 Mount Allison (2-4, 3-4) beat SMU#* SFX* SMU*; lost to SFX* McG Aca SMU*
26 St. F-X (1-5, 2-5) beat Aca# MtA*; lost to Conc MtA* SMU* Aca Aca
27 Carleton (0-0)

Image This week's mixed bag of results made rankings very difficult. After a split series, Laval and Montreal kind of killed each other off. McMaster's top spot ranking comes because they are consistently running up the scores, enough to overcome their black mark in the pre-season. The four contenders could truly be listed in any order. The Blob has Guelph and Sherbrooke rising to the top, the mid-range are snuggled together, Acadia and UBC are new addition, and Windsor gets the boot. That is big-time shuffling.

OFFICIAL HOLLYWOOD TOP 27 - WEEK 8

The OUA has now wrapped up its regular season and the rest will follow suit this week. So, in tribute to “the end” I post this patriotic picture:

Image

PRIOR OHT27s: Pre-Season : Week 1 : Week 2 : Week 3 : Week 4 : Week 5 : Week 6 : Week 7

STEP 1: WEEK 8 RESULTS

AUS
Mount Allison 29 St. Francis-Xavier 18
Saint Mary's 5 Acadia 12

RSEQ
Concordia 21 Sherbrooke 48
McGill 0 Montreal 44
Bishop's 7 Laval 57

OUA
Guelph 39 York 18
Western Ontario 32 Ottawa 29
Laurier 0 McMaster 43
Windsor 29 Waterloo 48
Toronto 7 Queen's 35

CW
Calgary 9 Regina 12
UBC 31 Manitoba 37
Saskatchewan 27 Alberta 10

STEP 2: REGIONAL RANKINGS

The rankings show each team's conference record followed by their overall record. The games marked # are non-conference games. The games marked * are games against a jabroni.

CANADA WEST

1 Calgary (6-1, 6-1) beat Reg Alta* Man UBC Sask Alta*; lost to Reg
2 Regina (5-2, 5-3) beat UBC Alta* Sask Man Calg; lost to Man# Calg UBC
3 Saskatchewan (4-3, 4-4) beat Alta* UBC Man ALta*; lost to Gue# Man Reg Cal
4 Manitoba (4-3, 5-3) beat Reg# UBC Sask Alta* UBC; lost to Cal Reg Sask
5 UBC (2-5, 2-6) beat Alta* Reg; lost to Men#; Man Reg Sask Cal Man
6 Alberta (0-7, 0-7) lost to Sask Cal Reg Man UBC Cal Sask

Image Regina's win over Calgary may not affect the final standigns, but it will very much affect the national rankings. This one season where # of games v Evil Monkeys will really affect standings.

ONTARIO

1 McMaster (8-0, 8-1) beat Gue Wat Ott Que WO York Wind Laur; lost to Lav#
2 Guelph (7-1, 7-1) beat Sask# Wind Wat Tor Laur WO Que York; lost to McM
3 Queen's (6-2, 7-2) beat McG# York Laur WO Ott Wind Tor; lost to McM Gue
4 W. Ontario (5-3, 4-3) beat Wat Tor Wind Laur Ott; lost to Que McM Gue
5 Windsor (3-5, 3-6) beat Ott Tor York; lost to Mtl# Gue WO Que McM Wat
6 Laurier (3-5, 3-5) beat York Ott Wat; lost to Tor Que Gue WO McM
7 York (2-6, 2-7) beat Ott Tor; lost to Bish# Que Laur Wat Wind McM Gue
8 Ottawa (2-6, 2-6) beat Tor Wat; lost to Wind York McM Laur Que WO
9 Toronto (2-6, 2-7) beat Laur Wat; lost to Conc# WO Wind Gue Ott York Que
10 Waterloo (2-6, 2-6) beat York Wind; lost to WO McM Gue Tor Laur Ott
11 Carleton (0-0)

Image Windsor has been sinking like a stone. Ottawa sure looks like they should have switched coaches earlier. The results make the OUA jabroni-free as their regular season ends.

QUEBEC/ATLANTIC

1 Laval (7-1, 8-1) beat McM# McG Bish Aca McG Sher Mtl Bish; lost to Mtl
2 Montreal (7-1, 8-1) beat Wind# Sher Conc Bish Sher Conc Lav McG; lost to Lav
3 Sherbrooke (5-3, 5-3) beat McG SMU* Conc Bish Conc; lost to Mtl Mtl Lav
4 Concordia (3-5, 4-5) beat Tor# Bish SFX* McG; lost to Mtl Bish Mtl Sher Sher
5 Acadia (6-1, 6-2) beat SMU* SMU* MtA* SFX* SFX* SMU*; lost to SFX#* Lav
6 Bishop's (2-6, 3-6) beat York# Conc McG; lost to Conc Lav Mtl McG Sher Lav
7 McGill (2-6, 2-7) beat MtA* Bish; lost to Que# Lav Sher Lav Bish Conc Mtl
8 Mount Allison (3-4, 4-4) beat SMU#* SFX* SMU* SFX*; lost to SFX* McG Aca SMU*
9 Saint Mary's (2-5, 2-6) beat SFX* MtA*; lost to MtA#* Aca Sher Aca MtA* Aca
10 St. F-X (1-6, 2-6) beat Aca# MtA*; lost to Conc MtA* SMU* Aca Aca MtA*

Image Acadia have established themselves as the class of the AUS, which may not be exactly high praise this year. Amazing to think that McGill would be second in the AUS.

STEP 3: THE BLEND

CONTENDERS
1 McMaster (8-0, 8-1) beat Gue Wat Ott Que WO York Wind Laur; lost to Lav#
2 Laval (7-1, 8-1) beat McM# McG Bish Aca McG Sher Mtl Bish; lost to Mtl
3 Montreal (7-1, 8-1) beat Wind# Sher Conc Bish Sher Conc Lav McG; lost to Lav
4 Calgary (6-1, 6-1) beat Reg Alta* Man UBC Sask Alta*; lost to Reg

THE BLOB
5 Regina (5-2, 5-3) beat UBC Alta* Sask Man Calg; lost to Man# Calg UBC
6 Guelph (7-1, 7-1) beat Sask# Wind Wat Tor Laur WO Que York; lost to McM
7 Sherbrooke (5-3, 5-3) beat McG SMU* Conc Bish Conc; lost to Mtl Mtl Lav
8 Queen's (6-2, 7-2) beat McG# York Laur WO Ott Wind Tor; lost to McM Gue
9 Saskatchewan (4-3, 4-4) beat Alta* UBC Man ALta*; lost to Gue# Man Reg Cal
10 Manitoba (4-3, 5-3) beat Reg# UBC Sask Alta* UBC; lost to Cal Reg Sask
11 W. Ontario (5-3, 4-3) beat Wat Tor Wind Laur Ott; lost to Que McM Gue
12 Concordia (3-5, 4-5) beat Tor# Bish SFX* McG; lost to Mtl Bish Mtl Sher Sher
13 Acadia (6-1, 6-2) beat SMU* SMU* MtA* SFX* SFX* SMU*; lost to SFX#* Lav
14 UBC (2-5, 2-6) beat Alta* Reg; lost to Men#; Man Reg Sask Cal Man

THE HAM 'N EGGERS
15 Bishop's (2-6, 3-6) beat York# Conc McG; lost to Conc Lav Mtl McG Sher Lav
16 McGill (2-6, 2-7) beat MtA* Bish; lost to Que# Lav Sher Lav Bish Conc Mtl
17 Windsor (3-5, 3-6) beat Ott Tor York; lost to Mtl# Gue WO Que McM Wat
18 Laurier (3-5, 3-5) beat York Ott Wat; lost to Tor Que Gue WO McM
19 Ottawa (2-6, 2-6) beat Tor Wat; lost to Wind York McM Laur Que WO
20 York (2-6, 2-7) beat Ott Tor; lost to Bish# Que Laur Wat Wind McM Gue
21 Toronto (2-6, 2-7) beat Laur Wat; lost to Conc# WO Wind Gue Ott York Que
22 Waterloo (2-6, 2-6) beat York Wind; lost to WO McM Gue Tor Laur Ott

THE JABRONIS
23 Mount Allison (3-4, 4-4) beat SMU#* SFX* SMU* SFX*; lost to SFX* McG Aca SMU*
24 Saint Mary's (2-5, 2-6) beat SFX* MtA*; lost to MtA#* Aca Sher Aca MtA* Aca
25 Alberta (0-7, 0-7) lost to Sask Cal Reg Man UBC Cal Sask
26 St. F-X (1-6, 2-6) beat Aca# MtA*; lost to Conc MtA* SMU* Aca Aca MtA*
27 Carleton (0-0)

Image Well, there you go. The Evil Monkeys and the rank-and-file AUS punching bags seem destined to finish as this year's jabronis. But all credit to the Mounted, who looked like they might be one of the all-time worst teams in the CIS at one point. They now have two wins each over SMU (one exhibition) and SFX. Meanwhile, this becomes the year of the ham'n'egger in the OUA. A very severe gap between #4 and #5 over there. It is hard to tell where tio rank Calgary. IMO they are vulnerable.

OFFICIAL HOLLYWOOD TOP 27 - WEEK 9

The regular season is over now, and the playoffs are upon us. Now, the question is who will win the Vanier Pageant? And who will be the first runner-up, to be declared champion in the event the winner used an ineligible player? And who will have to be satisfied being Miss Congeniality? And will Miss Jabroni get an award? Would you have to be wearing bear goggles to present it?

Image Image Image

PRIOR OHT27s: Pre-Season : Week 1 : Week 2 : Week 3 : Week 4 : Week 5 : Week 6 : Week 7 : Week 8

STEP 1: WEEK 9 RESULTS

Canada West
Alberta 0 Regina 19
UBC 24 Saskatchewan 52

AUS
St. Francis-Xavier 3 Saint Mary's 49
Acadia 45 Mount Allison 24

Montreal 37 Bishop's 7
Laval 32 Concordia 19

OUA - Quarter-finals
Windsor 35 Western Ontario 56
Laurier 0 Queen's 34

STEP 2: REGIONAL RANKINGS

The rankings show each team's conference record followed by their overall record. The games marked # are non-conference games. The games marked * are games against a jabroni. The games marked ^ are playoff games. The games marked § are forfeitures, but the results were not altered.

CANADA WEST

1 Calgary (7-1, 7-1) beat Reg Alta* Man UBC Sask Alta* Man; lost to Reg
2 Regina (6-2, 6-3) beat UBC Alta* Sask Man Calg Alta*; lost to Man# Calg UBC
3 Saskatchewan (5-3, 5-4) beat Alta* UBC Man Alta* UBC; lost to Gue# Man Reg Cal
4 Manitoba (4-4, 5-4) beat Reg# UBC Sask Alta* UBC; lost to Cal Reg Sask Cal
5 UBC (2-6, 2-7) beat Alta* Reg; lost to Men#; Man Reg Sask Cal Man Sask
6 Alberta (0-8, 0-8) lost to Sask Cal Reg Man UBC Cal Sask Reg

Image The final weekend was anti-climatic. The match-ups for the semi-finals were already pre-determined. Alberta avoided an embarrassing loss but still had the dishonour of an 0-fer season. Hard to tell what the Calgary-Manitoba game tells us.

ONTARIO

1 McMaster (8-0, 8-1) beat Gue Wat Ott Que WO York Wind Laur; lost to Lav#
2 Guelph (7-1, 8-1) beat Sask# Wind Wat Tor Laur WO Que York; lost to McM
3 Queen's (6-2, 8-2) beat McG# York Laur WO Ott Wind Tor Laur^; lost to McM Gue
4 W. Ontario (5-3, 6-3) beat Wat Tor Wind Laur Ott Wind^; lost to Que McM Gue
5 Windsor (3-5, 3-7) beat Ott Tor York; lost to Mtl# Gue WO Que McM Wat WO^
6 Laurier (3-5, 3-6) beat York Ott Wat; lost to Tor Que Gue WO McM Que^

9 Toronto (2-6, 2-7) beat Laur Wat; lost to Conc# WO Wind Gue Ott York Que
10 Waterloo (2-6, 2-6) beat York Wind; lost to WO McM Gue Tor Laur Ott
11 Carleton (0-0)

Image The best and the worst did not even play because the OUA got a jump on the rest by holding a quarter-final round. And the ham'n'eggers got their ***es handed to them, as usual.

QUEBEC/ATLANTIC

1 Laval (8-1, 9-1) beat McM# McG Bish Aca McG Sher Mtl Bish Conc; lost to Mtl
2 Montreal (8-1, 9-1) beat Wind# Sher Conc Bish Sher Conc Lav McG Bish; lost to Lav

10 St. F-X (1-7, 2-7) beat Aca# MtA*; lost to Conc§ MtA* SMU* Aca Aca MtA* SMU*

Image The onky shift in the rankings of any conference this week was Acadia slipping past Concordia. But with forfeiture Concordia was already gonzo. McGill in the playoffs? Yikes.

STEP 3: THE BLEND

Image Well, the only change was Acadia up and Concordia down. Acadia is so hard to rank.
