All things considered that was fun, it was also nice to get a 1st hand update on Ritch from his family.

Cheers
to Woody for calling the bar and buying a round  .... we used it to buy some sort of shooters with Bombay :beauty:

Isn't any violence "hate based"?

Personally, I don't care what motivated the attacker to do what he did to Ritch. It really doesn't matter either, it is unacceptable.

I just got back from seeing Ritch, This is the first time I have seen him. he was out of bed sitting in a wheel chair. It took a moment but I think he recognized me, he cracked a few smiles and his eyes lit up from time to time. He seemed to enjoy the flames losing last night and the Canucks haveing a chance to take first place. And the football hat I brought ... hehe he always liked that hat and now it's his. I think he tried to talk a few times but he can't because he has a thing in his throat. I think they are hoping to remove the thing in his throat in a week to 2 weeks as they move him to another ward. His hands remained clenched in front of him, he moves his right foot a lot like he has an itch or he wants his leg in shape for training camp.

As many of you know it's not a great sight to see a friend in that condition but based on what I have heard and now seen Ritch is fighting and progressing slowly but surely. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers ... :cheer: Let's Go Turd :13thman:

You're a mod. He probably just wanted to kick you.
Contrary to popular belief, the most dangerous animal is not the lion or tiger or even the elephant. The most dangerous animal is a shark riding on an elephant, just trampling and eating everything they see.

Yes. There has been an update on his condition posted at the Zone by Brian:

Re: Please read - re: our friend Ritch (3rd Down)

Hey zoner's,

I saw Ritch tonight, and I am happy to be able to report more progress. Ritch is now moving all four limbs. We watched some hockey tonight, and he was talkative. Often times forming strings of words, or answering basic questions. I told him to squeeze my hand and he did. He has good colour, his hair has grown back. He's starting to be a little bit of a brat with the nurses. His hands and one leg are tied down, he keeps pulling out his feeding tube. The leg is tied to trip and keep it from rubbing on the other one where he has developed a sore from doing so.

He seems to ask a lot of questions. Most of them you can't understand, but you can tell by his facial expressions that he is asking one. There are many things he doesn't understand. If you ask him a question he may say yes, no, no not really, he may pause and think about it. The nurse said his mom came in today, I asked him if his mom was in today he said "no, yesterday".

Ritch is starting to get his spunk back. He dropped an F-bomb, gave the nurses a little grief. He doesn't like being tied down, but right now it's for his own good.

He still has problems swallowing, thus the feeding tube is still in. Other than that he's free of IV's and other tubes now.

Ritch is now out of ICU. There is still a restriction on visitors and a no information order at the request of the family.

So combined with the moving of the other two limbs, and more talking, more interaction, it seems Ritch is still improving, and it was a good visit!

It's nice to see people actually standing up and doing something about violence in their community. :beauty:

"Totally OZZ" as Ritch would put it.
