Post by D » Mon Jan 25, 2010 2:54 pm

here is a piece by Jim Mullin of CKNW here in Vancouver suggesting Braley could be the Argo's owner as soon as next week

I don't think it would look good for the league to have one guy owning two competing teams. However, if Braley can bring long-term stability to the Argos, I'm all for it. He's just the kind of owner they need. Maybe he could find someone respectable to sell the Lions to?

I have no problem with it but I just hope due to finances either team would not suffer to improve the other. I mean what happens when one team trades with the other. It maybe nothing to this but just wondering if one team has a good player the other team needs to win will a trade be that much easier between the two teams. It could lead to stacking of one team if required. Whats your thoughts?

I believe the one plan offered was that Braley would pick up the bills while two separate groups would operate each team. No overlap in staffing to maintain the integrity of each team.

That was my understanding, and likely the only way it could possibly go down. There was also some mention of Braley's son being the "owner" of Argos in order to appear as though one person didn't own both teams.

I found a segment with Lefko talking about the ownership situation back on the 14th. He's got a rather interesting take on the search for a partner.

If this purchase of the Argos does indeed go through, I hope the above is what happens, even if it's only for the sake of optics. Even then, any trade between the two teams would be heavily scrutinized by fans and media, so they'd better try to do everything above board.

Not all that many trades in pro football so that shouldn't be too bad of an issue. Could be issues if the Lions release a player that happens to sign in Toronto a week or two later. But that happens even when the same guy doesn't own both teams...

The alternative is the CFL operates the Argos which nobody wants as it drains the other CFL teams monetarily. Not the best solution but a liveable one for me. Gives time for the CFL to find a suitable buyer.

Hey, it appears all along that Braley was propping up the fraud twins all along. So the faster they get booted the better for everyone.
Contrary to popular belief, the most dangerous animal is not the lion or tiger or even the elephant. The most dangerous animal is a shark riding on an elephant, just trampling and eating everything they see.

Looks like anybody who bought a ticket last year put more money into the Argos than Sokolowski did. Ron's right :0 . The league needs to get these 2 clowns out before they waste another season. The number of season ticket holders dropped by 10% in 2008 and 2009. C&S took their 2007 Grey Cup money and ran. It's only going to get worse this year with these two phonies in charge. We should all be thankful that there's someone like Braley who's willing to come in and use his own money to help turn this thing around.
Argos Suck! Since 1869. Accept no substitutions or pale imitiations.

The one true and original. All time head to head won loss record:
Hamilton: 124 W 91 L 2T! Now you know why the Argos Suck!

Used the playbook of Brad Watters. Except no Braley to save the 'Gades.
