Question For Section W

Postby iso_55 » Sun Jun 06, 2010 12:25 am

My favourite Alouette logo & uniform was always the white helmet with centre stripes along with the bird logo & green jerseys as well as white pants (when the Als won the Grey Cup in 1970). Which do you prefer & would like to see for the Als 70's throwback unis this season? The 1970 version or the version that came later on in the mid to late 70's with the dark helmets, red & blue jerseys rather than the green jerseys from earlier in the decade?? That was the uniform & logo when the Als played & won the Grey Cup in 1978.

The green jersey was awfull IMO, i like the red better, the logo for the bird was nice, but nothing beats the wings on the helmet IMO. The retro 70's will be the 72 on jersey, the green one will not be brought back i think.

74 & 77 GC was dark blue jersey & helmet.

I went to the Als office about 1 month ago and overheard that the 70's retro game that will be played in the green jersey & white pants & helmet.

Maybe just a rumor.....I personally like the 74/77 version.

The Als' already have a third jersey (what they wore in the '05 Grey Cup) that is similar to the one that they wore from '74-'79. They should go with the green ones as the retro jerseys this year and then trot out their '74-'81 uniforms next year when the 1980s are celebrated.
There is one thing that no Argo fan should ever forget - Rob Ford, Doug Ford, Paul Godfrey, Phil Lind and Larry Tanenbaum are all pure evil!

Everybody has a fave I guess. I liked the Alouettes back in the day BEFORE Marv Levy when Sam Etcheverry was HC. Sonny Wade was a rookie in 1970 & won the GC that year. Moses Denson was the fullback. Steve Smear at linebacker. Terry Evanshen at wideout. Peter Dalla Riva at TE. Anyone remember John Harvey? Liked that team & liked the look.

I agree about those uniforms iso. And I believe 1970 was the only year two third-place teams met in the Grey Cup.
My name is Argolio, and I approved this post.

The red and black is for their Centennial game. Not sure what their retro 70s jerseys look like. The picture from my 1974 Yearbook looks a lot like their current set just with the older logo (that they've used a fair bit in recent time too).

Riders had that look from 1967 to about 1983, I believe.

Count me among the group that would like to see the 1970-74 uniforms worn on special occasions. I don't think I'd like them again as an every day occurance, but certainly for this season ('70's retro) they'd be great.

Did you know they were the first team to wear 3 uniforms? White with green and red trim on the road, and green with red and white trim PLUS a red jersey with green and white trim. A very stylish logo as well.

That logo is nice, i tried to track the designer, i think the man is the same guy that did the CN, BCN and few stylized lettering logo. I think he was a Hungarian immigrant, he has done some memorable designs.

That is a great logo design. Don't know why the Als ever went away from it.
