Alouettes finish first 1st in east again?

Post by Ticats85 » Sat May 14, 2011 3:29 pm

Will the Alouettes once again dominate the east landscape in 2011? or will we see a more competitive east with Hamilton and Toronto improving on there 500 records last year?

I really think Montreal will start to slip. Sure they still have Calvillo and everything, but Cahoon is done and a few other players are starting to retire. I think it will be tough for them to get anything better than, say, 11-7 or 10-8.

Mind you, other than Hamilton, there really isn't anyone that can challenge Montreal in the East yet... all the other REALLY good teams are in the West.

ya im hoping that montreal starts its decline this year, its just hard for me to count them out, Hamilton looks like they will improve but i also thought that last year, i can even see tha argos improving their record i mean they won 9 games last year with Cleo at the helm i gotta think that jyles will be a improvement, and with Boyd and Owens returning i can see them improving alot on offense, I could see the Argos being dangerous even tho it pains me to say that. As for Winnipeg i just dont see Buck Pierce staying healty and without him there dead in the water in my opinion

Picking the standings is futile. Much of it depends on the quarterback. Tell me how many games each team's starter will lose to injury and I'll tell you the probable finish.

There are very few teams that won't experience a marked drop-off in production from the back-up should the starter go down. And that will affect the standings.

As much as I agree with David's sentiments, I would think that on paper as of right now Montreal is still easily the favorites with Hamilton a slight advantage over Toronto and Winnipeg for second.

Lots can happen in training camp though. I'll give you an official predix before week 1 as I always do for fun.

how is montreal slipping? yes calvillo is a year older but so is macpherson who filled in admirably. they retooled the secondary, will be able to replace coburn and are very deep at receiver. cahoon was irrelevant in the offense last year. the one issue they have in my honest opinion, will be psychological and emotional motivation. can they keep up the intensity to three-peat? history shows it's very difficult.

Although I'd love to see my Blue Bombers come out on top of the East this year, I think the "BEAST-OF-THE-EAST" will be the Tiger-Cats this seasson. :good: :D

As David notes, if Calvillo stays relatively healthy, Montreal wins the East in a walk. If not, it depends on other teams' injuries.

People have been predicting a Montreal slide every year. I'll believe it when I see it. The Als should be favoured to finish first in the east again. Having said that, I think the margin will be slimmer and the east should be tighter overall.
Argos Suck! Since 1869. Accept no substitutions or pale imitiations.

The one true and original. All time head to head won loss record:
Hamilton: 124 W 91 L 2T! Now you know why the Argos Suck!

You may be right on this one. Jim Barker's being pretty smart at who he's kept and got rid of. A healthy Corey Boyd and a more "experienced" Cleo Lemon could be dangerous. Not to mention the awesome special teams of Mike O'Shea last year ! :good:

I just hope the fans come out and support the Argos better. :?

Montréal will win again...But the east will be better than the west this year.

That sums it up, every season for the last 5 years at least, we heard this, Als going down, the good news IMO is that the east is becoming way more competitive, it will make for a great season.
May the Cahoon be with you.

Als win the East, with surging Hamilton and Toronto pushing them all the way.

Winnipeg could be in the mix if their backup qb is ready and able to lead the offence for 8 games or more.
