I'm here to report that you are wrong, it is a great name,

It may sound new, and kind of uncomfortable to say, but if someone was to come to planet Earth for the first time, learn a little bit about each city, and then hear the name, RedBlacks would be looked at as one of the best names

Fans will start seeing red and black soon if they don't get another win. and with calgary in town expect lots of INTs with the matching sets of red and black unis.

I actually witnessed a fight on Bank street on my way back from last friday's game. I thought Ottawa was supposed to be a peaceful happy place

At least we didn't have anyone running on the field in the last game, the Sas game had 3 dashers. But last game, we actually had football to watch

I don't think that I will ever get used to "Redblacks". I honestly believe they should change. They will want something that starts with "R". So for ideas here is a list of animlas that start with "R":
Rabbit
Raccoon
Raccoon Dog
Radiated Tortoise
Ragdoll
Rat
Rattlesnake
Red Knee Tarantula
Red Panda
Red Wolf
Red-handed Tamarin
Reindeer
Rhinoceros
River Dolphin
River Turtle
Robin
Rock Hyrax
Rockhopper Penguin
Roseate Spoonbill
Rottweiler
Royal Penguin
Russian Blue

I think "Rottweilers" would work.

I take it you can't be too too serious about any of those names. The only one I like is Raccoon, an animal that starts with R, is indeginous to the area, vicious, and would make a cute mascot. but I can't see it taken to serious when fans start calling players that are predominately black, The Coons, or chanting, Go Coons Go.
Rottweiler is a dog they're trying to ban in Ottawa, not a good name to go with,

The RedBlacks is a name the military, dressed like they do for changing of the gaurd, nicknamed themselves when they defended Ottawa and eventually Canada in the war of 1812. I am proud of the name

From what I read that wasn't why they went with the name but you can spin it any way you like using military references. It translates easier into French as Rouge et Noir so they went with that. Somehow that's supposed to be cool, I guess.

Here's more for you to read then.

http://www.ottawasun.com/2013/06/08/ott ... e-cfl-team The guy he talks about walking up to him in the begining of the article was my friend Alex. He just retired from the Navy

they also mention the reference to the military again when they did the name unveiling at the Ernest Younge Centre, here's the video and it's mentioned @ 25 seconds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDwYzKQ7aMY
I may have got my military regimes mixed up,
