They could just be the Ottawa FC as in Football Club. Nice, short and sweet. Seeing as the Ottawa soccer team is the Fury.

To soccery... I would always think they are refering to the Fury when they'd say the Ottawa Football Club

I disagree with what he just disagreed with!LOL

Why red black and not BlackRed....Why is red first and not black.
Why has Ottawa become synonymous with these colours. It's a Political town, and should reflect the colours
Blue-Conservatives
Red-Liberals
Orange-NDP
Green-Green party(thats a stretch)
So Blurog isthe the name. Case closed.

I will support the team regardless, but there has to be a better monicker out there.
I wonder if Russ made any suggestions.
The Ottawa Russ's of course. It has the R that so many people think is important. Or the Ottawa Russ Jacksons. But that would mean including a J in the logo. And when you include a J in any logo in Ont., it means your in league with the Blue Jays, which means Rogers. Repent!

It's almost like this campaign they had backfired. They're great for getting the city talking about football, but so many are so passionate about the name that it's erupting negative feelings, and what ever name is picked is going to be the wrong one.
Should have almost just picked a name without having everyone come up with an opinion.
About 10 days ago, there was an article that said it would be within 60 days, so that would be by mid May I guess, now they're saying it won't be until after the Senators season is done,
Mark my words... Next it'll be not till the NHL playoffs are done, then after that, not till the astart of the CFL preseason.

Gotta admit, it would be pretty sweet to have the TSN panel announce it

Waiting too long means lost profits in merchandise sales. I love the hype. It's creating quite a stir.

It's a piece of news thats spreading across the country like a TO cockroach.(the TO cockroach probably came from asia or europe, so its not their fault).
Although people in Alberta would beg to differ. People in Alberta love Ontario... :rotf:
It's great marketing.
However...get the product out there already. I wore a Roughrider jersey into tho ground so much, my mother waited until I was at summer camp before she threw it out. ( i didn't wash it all that often, so please, don't judge my mother)

There's all kinds of leaks revealing the new name for Ottawa being the RedBlacks. Here's designs leaked by someone who was working on the design team

MY COMMENTS:

RedBlacks sounds like a merger of two amateur teams in some sport.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are legally named Winnipeg Football Club, and Blue Bombers is an unofficial (though trademarked) nickname.

The team should certainly be black with red and white trimming.

There must be a common local animal that is not used as a nickname.

Why can't Ottawa come up with names? Winnipeg's old soccer team was called the Fury, and now Ottawa is going to use that? Very odd.

Maybe they should steal the Moose logo from our former AHL team.

I agree with you,

Robins are close to the same colours, start with the R, not only indigenous to the area, but show up in the spring! What better sign of football being back then Robins showing up!
Some say the Robin isn't a fierce animal. Is a Cardinal, Oriole, Alouette, SeaHawk, more fierce, a BlueJay doesn't intimidate me a whole lot more. It just has to grow on you some. Just make a logo with attitute.
Fierce animal? Indigenous to the area, not used by another team? The Wolfs! Not the Wolves, each player is a wolf, plural of a name Wolf is Wolfs, just like the Leads! It's gramically correct! If Ryan Leaf and his family are coming over for dinner, do you say the Leaves are coming over?
the Ottawa Wolfs, running into the stadium, and a howling wolf played over the speaker, as the Wolf pack comes onto the field,
Raccoons, starts with an R, cute, can be vicious, but looked at as a bit of a pest, but more so, being shortened to the Coons maybe found offensive by some,
my favourite name, The Ottawa Butchers! Before the game we eat meat and salute the honourable men, and women that prepare it for us,
welcome to the Slaughter House! Just put a bloody R on the side of the helmet, if someone asks why are they called the Butchers, but have an R as a logo, you could just reply with, Because !@#$ off, that's why.
some may find the name butchers a little too aggressive, hey princess! It's Ottawa, the ballet is up the street,
