Montreal in Decline

Post by cfldave » Sun Jul 20, 2014 4:58 pm

I was at the BC - Als game on Saturday and boy that Als team is just dead inside. Smith threw for something like 45 yards in 3 quarters. The guy just doesn't seem to be progressing at all.

But the whole team was just plain blah. There was no spirit on the sideline and that Johnson fellow looked like he could care less and tried even less. A few bright sparks from Whittaker now and then but otherwise this team looks like it's ready for the football graveyard. Ottawa just might make the playoffs in year one if only because how bad the Als are and how awful the Argos defense is.

Yeah, I was in the room without a roof too.
Als now do look like the team that has waited too late to make the hard decisions at key positions.
No Calvillo, no Cahoon, no Richardson, no quality recruits.
Their running back is as good as it gets, but far from a guy who can take the team on his back.
Was SJ Green even in the lineup.
Als and the Argos are the two worst defenses in the CFL. Welcome news in Ottawa, I suppose.
Looks like Emry left the frying pan, and landed in the fire.

one win by hammy tomorrow and everyone is at 1-3. If there was ever a time for montreal to struggle it's now. 7-11 should win the east. :rotf:

After Argos get hammered by Sask they'll be 1 and 4.

Where did I get the idea that the Argos would be good this year?

A healthy line-up around Ricky Ray, maybe.
Good offense has a way of keeping bad defense off of the field.
Admittedly, turnovers were the killer in Riderland.

Winnipeg with now as many wins as all eastern teams combined. Whoever predicted this would have been thrown in a nuthouse.

Als' offense now facing an Edmonton defense that has shown little weakness so far this season.
Can the Montreal defense overcome that mess on offense and keep this game from getting ugly yet again.

On paper, hiring Jeff Garcia is good decision for Montreal.
If Smith, Marsh, and Brink can't learn a thing or two from this guy, then the QB talent in Montreal is far more over-rated than we already suspected.

Herb Zurkowsky wrote a piece this week quoting a anonymous player with the AL's accusing Chad Johnson of not knowing the playbook he also said "this ain't no slap dick vacation league, put the best players on the field that want to play" another source said that Duron Carter is not very well liked in the locker room because he is selfish. I still think they can be turned around but things are really starting to get ugly in Montreal.

I think John Bowman might be the anonymous player in question as he's been vocal with his displeasure of the team.

Jerrod Johnson is expected to sign as a QB next week. Mason Mills and Chris Amrheim are being evaluated. More fleas for their little circus. :tease:

All teams have their ups and downs. Montreal's downs are far overdue.

One thing in which we can all rejocie is that pro sports' definition of excellence, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, are always there for all Canadians!

The turn around in Montreal and the disintegration in Winnipeg can be summed up mostly in two words

Indeed. Higgins gets his first playoff win since the '03 grey cup. Sadly only 15,107 of us were there to see it lol.

Reports of Montreal's death are highly exaggerated it seems.

now they are good and dead. they can still hope for their first vanier in 27 years. montreal is more likely to sell out a championship game even if it's only university.
