Well, the lights are off, the crowds have gone home and the 103rd Edition of the Grey Cup has come to an end along with the 2015 CFL season.
It was a season of disappointment for some, surprise and happiness for others.
To the two finalists in this years match, a hearty thank you for gutting it out and producing a fine Grey Cup.
First to the Ottawa Redblacks. Although you may be feeling down tonight, you have acquitted yourselves with honour. You may not have triumphed today but your season has been a triumph in and of itself. You brought respectability back to the city of Ottawa and represented them in fine fashion. It has been a tonic to see Ottawa back in the game and even nicer to see the team do well. I'm sure the fans of Ottawa are looking forward to the next season. A hearty well done.
For the Edmonton Eskimo's. This is a return to the limelight after a 10 year absence. They have been a very difficult 10 years at points but you have finally emerged from the ashes and have built a new house. You are the lone team standing at the end of the tunnel and you have been at the front of the pack for most of the season with good reason. This team has the makings of being solid for years to come. Some of us fans from other teams may have to start hating the Esks again with not so found memories of the abuses heaped on our teams from previous glory years.
You are the Champions and no matter where you go, what you do, this day will always be yours and no one can take it away, ever. I am reminded of the phrase.
"Broken bones heal, chicks dig scars, glory lasts forever."
All hail the new champions.
