Given that he has a home in Winnipeg, it was probably a long shot but it seems that OC's are going to be a highly prized commodity this year. Calgary is going to need one, looks like Edmonton may have lost Jarious Jackson along with Jones. If Jason Maas goes to Edmonton as HC as rumoured, then Ottawa is going to need a new one. So by my reckoning.

BC, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa (nearly half the league is without or is likely to be without an OC shortly). Smart of Winnipeg to leap quickly.
