The "I" does extremely well in lower level football. I doubt that it will ever disappear. The CFL has changed over last season. Qbs like Hank are throwing off the option fake up the middle more now instead of more conventional play action.
I've got soul but I'm not a soldier.

The addition of the H-Back to the NFL has changed the proto-type for FB's. H-Backs are generally a cross between a TE and a WR (very much like a Canadian Slotback), but instead they usually take the spot of the FB, and are expected to have better hands and quicker, and less straight line blocking. The size, strength, and speed of the players today has also changed the need or usefulness of a FB somewhat. It's tough for a FB to line up for 30 snaps a game (plus special teams) and have a 5 yard run from the I form into Maurice Lloyd or Patrick Willis when they're flying full speed into you every play. As such, they're more commonly used on the edge in a zone scheme where they focus on the DE and OLB. Looking at the Riders this year, you can see them using alot more double TE formations with Szarka, Hughes, Childs, or Foord at TE for their power running formations. Even Mack Strong and Lorenzo Neal are calling it careers, and those guys were built like armoured cars.
