Signing Day 2010

Post by Rids » Sat Feb 06, 2010 9:17 am

So this past week saw Signing Day come and go. How'd your favorite school do? Oklahoma saw 28 kids sign a LOI to attend school in Norman, Oklahoma next year. Texas had 25 do the same thing.

Of the schools I follow closely Vanderbilt had a decent class with more 3 Star recruits than I remember from last year. The SEC will be a struggle still but we'll see how things look in a couple years.

It always amazes me to see how many non-BCS schools get "ranked" in those top 20/30 recruiting lists (usually none) compared to how many appear in the top 25 poll during the season.

Part this is hype and who gets the most kids out of Texas, Florida and California.
My name is Argolio, and I approved this post.

Well most of the ranked non-BCS schools are heavier on the upper classes than freshman. Very few non-BCS schools bring in 30 recruits total, let alone 30 3 star and up recruits.

There is a decent list of Canadians heading south again with a few more still to decide on things.

Jeff Veinotte - Buffalo - OL - (Ottawa, ON)
Tyrone Crawford - Boise State - DE - (Windsor, ON)
Nehemie Kankalongo - Wyoming - RB - (Coquitlam, BC)
Lamar Durant - Nevada Reno - WR/QB - (Coquitlam, BC)
Jabar Westerman - Eastern Michigan - DT - (Brampton, ON)
Brandon Bridge - Alcorn State - QB / REC - (Brampton, ON)
Cody Millet - Albany - OL - (Newmarket, ON)
Jacob Ruby - Connecticutt - OL - (London, ON)
Tyreek Phillips - Furman - DL - (Brampton, ON)

There's also:
JuCo's
Brad Karl - Snow College - QB (Calgary, AB)
Ollie Thompson - Snow College - K (Calgary, AB)

Prep
Winston Miles - Hun School (New Jersey) - OL - also has an offer to go to Buffalo but sounds like he'll go to Prep School instead of red shirt.

Matt Bergeron a CJFL All Canadian Center had an offer last year from Alcorn State so that might still happen. Sounds like Andy Bell another Center might end up at Hargrave Military Academy.
Conner Anderson a running back from Ontario could go to West Virginia Wesleyan (Denny Creehan is head coach there).
Dillon Guy an offensive lineman apparently has an offer to play at Savannah State.

That puts my number at 16. We'll see if it can't push 20 here fairly shortly.

Pair of Canadian LBs commit to NCAA Div II University of Mary on signing day. Tyler Kist (Winnipeg) and Spencer Revenberg (Essex, ON) join the Marauders.

Another Canadian is signed on to play down south. Conner Anderson, a running back out of Ontario, has signed on with West Virginia Wesleyan. It's a Div II school that is coached by former CFL coach Denny Creehan.
