I want to clarify my openning remarks. I think that she is a talented singer, but was involved in a bad decision to change the anthem's tune. Whether she made the sole decision, or was encouraged to make a bad decision by other people isn't the point. The point is that at these types of events, I think that the national anthem should be a moment for a brief form of national unity and pride. When the song is changed, there is no unity nor pride, just confusion. The sense of community and belonging was destroyed and the opportunity to proudly sing along for the spectators and athletes was gone.
