Canada's pitching has been brutal that last two games. Pitching and fielding has sucked for both the baseball and softball teams... aren't going to win any medals playing like this

Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

Canada's bullpen was unable to hold an early lead in this one. That's 3 straight 1-run losses for TC. The Yanks move to 2-2, one game ahead. However, all is not lost. They are due for some good breaks for a change which they could use against Japan. And based on form thus far in the tournament should be able to close with wins over Chinese Taipei and Netherlands.

CUBA 1

Cuba moves to 4-0 while Taipei falls to 1-3. Cuba's biggest win was a 4-2 win over Japan on day 1.

NETHERLANDS 6
CHINA 4

The Netherlands finally got on the scoreboard. This was one game they were favoured to win and they delivered. Both sides have one win now.

KOREA 5
JAPAN 3

[PLAY-BY-PLAY] <> [SUMMARY] <> [RECAP]

The Koreans remained unbeaten while Japan slides to 2-2. Somewhat surprising that the Koreans keep rolling along.

This was the conclusion of game previously postponed by rain. The Koreans amazingly needed 11 innings to get one run against China.

COMING UP

August 18, 2008
Japan – Canada (starts Aug 17 at 9:20pm CDT)
Korea – Chinese Taipei
Cuba – Netherlands
China – U.S.A.

August 19, 2008
Canada – Netherlands
Cuba – Korea
China – Japan
Chinese Taipei – U.S.A.

August 20, 2008
China – Cuba
Korea – Netherlands
Chinese Taipei – Canada
U.S.A. – Japan

Cuba and Korea are both 4-0 and will be in the semi-finals. Then we have Japan and USA at 2-2 and the rest are 1-3. Canada would likely qualify with a win over Japan. I'll be watching it.

This was a devastating loss for TC. Four straight one-run losses is unreal. The have two games left and must win and then hope that Japan or the USA lose twice. Since Japan plays the USA in the last game, they need one of those teams to lose on Tuesday morning.

OTHER SCORES

KOREA 9
CHINESE TAIPEI 8

[PLAY-BY-PLAY] <> [SUMMARY] <> [RECAP]

Korea moves to 5-0 while Chinese Taipei is now 1-4. Like Canada, Chinses Taipei has only a faint hope. Fainter, even, due to their runs totals.

[PLAY-BY-PLAY] <> [SUMMARY] <> [RECAP]

The Dutch have stopped being shut out. But then they lost via a mercy rule. Cuba is 5-0 and Netherlands 1-4.

I heard one of the USA players (Matt Laporta) was beaned in this one. I will check for an injury upadte. That makes two USA players injured that way.
