Leafs now NHL's biggest embarrassment...

Post by jay64 » Thu Jun 10, 2010 12:35 pm

.. now that the Blackhawks have won their first Cup in 49 yrs. The Leafs now hold the biggest drought in hockey.. 43 yrs without a Cup.. and finishing out of the playoffs again last season. Brian Burke hasn't changed the team's fortunes around.. and I wonder is MLSE will let him...

Personally I think Gary Bettman is the NHL's biggest embarrassment

So...the Leafs are still losing, right?

Seems to me that nothing has changed for the Leafs, and why should it? They can't make any more money from merchandising, the team sells out the ACC no matter how they play or if they make the playoffs....they would be hard pressed to make any MORE money than they do... (except for making the playoffs)

Why would anyone want to CHANGE any of that??? Where is the incentive to win?

Well the prospects for the Leafs doesn't look good.. they don't have a 1st pick in this year OR next year's draft. Unless they make a trade to get a pick.. but usually teams will flip picks at a draft. The only way I see the Leafs getting better is if they make a splash on the FA market on July 1. Even then FA's don't always work out. Unless a team is looking for a specific type of player, Leaf fans will have to wait until round 2 to see what type of prospects they will get in the draft.
